" Understanding that the world is not always cupcakes and rainbows"

Grief is a universal emotion, one that can overwhelm children as well as adults. When we lose a loved one, there are many feelings that may need to be processed – feelings of sorrow, loneliness, and even anger. FOG Kids is a non-profit 501(c) 3 that provides a safe, friendly and professional environment where bereaved individuals of all ages and their families can find uplifting, encouragement, support, resources, education and strength while dealing with all types of loss. We  provide support to help families cope with death, loss and the grieving process and help them establish their "new normal."Grief is a universal emotion, one that can overwhelm children as well as adults. Following the death of someone close, parents are often concerned about how to best support and meet the needs of their children. Like adults, children experience, express and process grief in a variety of ways depending on their age, stage of development, personality, family culture, understanding of death, past experiences of loss and the context of their bereavement. When considering how best to provide support, the child's unique grieving needs should also be considered.

Our goal is to bring the youth who are grieving together in a caring and supportive environment. We want to help kids acquire the language needed to express the confusing feelings associated with grief and bereavement as they begin the ongoing process of integrating their loss into everyday life.

When children deal with loss, they are hit with a hurtful reality that the world is not always cupcakes and rainbows. Let us help you both navigate through the fog. During  our FOG Kids sessions, we see and feel the children's relief on the very first day as they realize here they are not different. They see that everyone has had someone they care about die or are dealing with loss of some kind and it's OK to talk about it.
